I Am Going To Read Sometimes I Share Level 1
A little girl sometimes shares with her brother: she gives him half her cookie, lets him play with her toys, and even allows him to ride her bike. But when her friends come over, she doesn't always want him around. What happens then? A delightfully told and illustrated little tale that will evoke giggles even as it makes a valuable point about good behavior. Editorial Reviews From Booklist PreS-Gr. 1. From the publisher's I'm Going to Read! series, this book offers a brief first-person story about a girl and her little brother. Sometimes they share; sometimes they don't. Sometimes they get along well; sometimes they squabble. In the happy ending, they share a cookie jar, a playhouse, and a riding toy. Gently conveyed through the pictures as well as the words, the lesson is clear, but the emphasis here is on the children's everyday activities and emotions. Though the words are not all monosyllabic, repetition will make the text accessible to the target audience of beginning readers. A note to parents suggests activities and games to play while reading the book or using flash cards made at home. Pencil drawings shaded with colors portray the activities and the shifting emotions of siblings at play. Designed as a book for independent reading at the beginning stage, this is also a good choice for preschool teachers to read aloud when it's time to talk about sharing (again).
