Making Tracks Hb
Facts about land and flying machines. Editorial Reviews From School Library Journal Grade 2-4?These series entries provide wide-ranging looks at modes of transportation. High in the Sky introduces air travel including airships (blimps), airplanes, and helicopters. The majority of entries receive double-page spreads; hot-air balloons and airliners each have a four-page gatefold. There is a multitude of facts arranged on each page with numerical pointers to guide readers from one to the next. Each spread also includes a "picture-strip" that offers more information on one aspect of the topic under discussion. Each section also has a true-or-false question that is answered at the end of the book. Making Tracks follows the same format but focuses on wheeled vehicles such as chariots, trucks, and trains. Both books have oversized illustrations that dominate the spread as well as smaller detailed drawings in the "picture-strips." The series will work best with browsers and young patrons who enjoy machinery and its trivia.?Maura Bresnahan, Topsfield Town Library, MA Copyright 1998 Reed Business Information, Inc. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
